Privacy Policy

Last Updated: 20 September 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, how we use it, and your choices. It covers the MetaMate plugin and AI service, the SearchVesa plugin, and the website metamateplugin.com.

1. Who we are

The data controller is Farhat Gull, a sole trader trading as MetaMate, of Unit 65683, Courier Point, 13 Freeland Park, Wareham Road, Poole, Dorset, BH16 6FH, UK (“we”, “us”). You can contact us at support@metamateplugin.com.

2. What we collect

SearchVesa (the free plugin)

SearchVesa makes no calls to us or to any AI provider. Everything you enter stays in your own WordPress database, and we receive nothing from it.

MetaMate plugin (paid plans)

MetaMate does not call OpenAI directly. When you use an AI feature, your site sends the following to our AI service:

  • Your website domain, to identify your licence.
  • Your licence key, to confirm your plan and enforce usage limits.
  • The content you are working on. Depending on the feature, this may be the post title and text, a target keyword and image addresses. For schema markup it also includes the author’s display name, the site name, the post’s web address, the publish date and image or logo addresses. For internal linking it also includes the titles and web addresses of some of your other posts.

Your content is sent only when you use an AI tool in the WordPress editor. Separately, your site contacts our service in the background when you activate the plugin, and about every 15 minutes afterwards, to check your licence and plan. This sends only your domain and licence key. If our service cannot be reached, the plugin may check your licence key directly with SureCart.

  • Background jobs: for features that run in the background (such as internal linking and schema markup), a temporary job record, including the raw AI response, is created in your own WordPress database. A scheduled cleanup deletes it within 24 hours, whether or not you used the suggestion.
  • Training: we do not use your content to train or fine-tune any AI model.
  • Personal data in your content: suggestions are generated from your own content, so we cannot promise that a request contains no personal or sensitive information. Please check your content before you send it for AI processing.

Records our AI service keeps

For each licensed website we keep the domain, licence key, plan, the number of AI requests used each month, and the dates it was first and last seen. We also keep a temporary copy, for up to 24 hours, of the licence details SureCart returns when we check a key, for troubleshooting. We do not keep the content of your requests.

Stored on your own website

  • Your focus keyword, SEO title, meta description, social fields, and any saved schema markup or links (stored as post meta).
  • Your plugin settings.
  • Your licence key (stored as a site option).

These stay in your WordPress database until you delete them, or uninstall the plugin with “Delete Data on Uninstall” turned on.

From this website

If you contact us, buy a plan or create an account, we collect what we need to reply or process the order, such as your name, email address and billing details (through SureCart). With your consent we also use Google Analytics to see how the website is used (see our Cookie Policy).

3. How and why we use it

  • To provide the AI features, check licences and enforce plan limits: this is needed to carry out our contract with you.
  • To take payment, renew or cancel subscriptions and give refunds: contract, and our legal duty to keep accounting and tax records.
  • To answer support requests: contract, and our legitimate interest in helping customers.
  • To keep the service secure and to prevent misuse or fraud: our legitimate interests.
  • To analyse how the website is used: your consent.

We do not sell your personal data.

5. Transfers outside the UK

Some of these providers (for example OpenAI, SureCart, Stripe, PayPal and Google) may process data outside the UK and the European Economic Area, including in the United States. Where they do, they use safeguards such as standard contractual clauses or an adequacy decision. Each provider’s own privacy terms give the details.

6. How long we keep it

  • Content sent to the AI service: we do not store it. It passes to OpenAI and back. Our hosting provider’s server logs may record technical details of a request, such as the time and IP address, for security. OpenAI may keep API inputs and outputs for a limited time (up to 30 days at the time of writing, for abuse monitoring) under its own terms, and does not use API content to train its models by default. Please see OpenAI’s privacy policy for the current position.
  • Licence and usage records: while your licence is active, and for 12 months afterwards.
  • Billing records: for as long as tax and accounting law require.
  • Support emails: 2 years.
  • Website analytics: 14 months.

7. Keeping your data safe

Our website and AI service use HTTPS, so data is encrypted in transit, and we rely on our hosting provider’s security measures. Your card details never reach us. We fix security problems promptly, and updates reach you through your WordPress dashboard. If you think you have found a vulnerability, please email support@metamateplugin.com. We aim to reply within 3 working days.
